La Bamba always makes me want to watch the Ritchie Valens story with Lou Diamond Phillips
-
Dianna Aubrey That is a good one although some things have been slightly made up for dramatic effect - yeah still love this one - I fell in love with Lou after mum took me to see it when i was 11. I know Ritch died b4 my time but his story means a lot to me. and he was actually quite a looker. -
Dianna Aubrey Keane did a Rolling Stone Interview and said that after his death the song catalogue was useless only worth about 5000 so he sold it. Said Ritchie couldn't play more than a few notes etc and couldn't write songs. I disagree with that - If he lived longer that would have changed. -
Rachel Danger Sayle I agree he was very young when he died and his style reflects the popular sound of the time. Had Valens had more time I'm sure he would have matured musically: you only have to look at the sophistication behind some of Buddy Holly's arrangements- from That'll Be The Day to Raining In My Heart and True Love Ways in just over a year.
