After coping with the loss of his long time friend, the hard hitting and hard living drummer John Bonham, former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant initiated his solo career with the release of Pictures At Eleven. The 1982 recording leans into L.Z. turf, while a number of selections find "Percy" branching out into territory that the mighty Zep wouldn't take on.

While Plant's pipes remain in fine form, the main drawing card throughout "Pictures At Eleven" is the strong cast of backing musicians, which includes the fretboard prowess of guitarist Robbie Blunt. Blunt takes on the role of Jimmy Page in Plant's solo run, laying down expressive six string work and slick solos. Blunt's chops stand out on "Like I've Never Been Gone", "Burning Down One Side", "Moonlight In Samosa" and "Slow Dancer".
