William S. Burroughs was one of the must influential writers during 20th century. His crazy, drug influenced literature meant a major inspiration for the beat generation poets, as well as for many rock, punk and electronic musicians, among others.

He was born at Saint Louis, MO, in 1914, (as the grandson of the inventor of the adding machine) and studied at Harvard. It was after a period in jail (after he accidentally killed his wife, Joan, in Mexico City) that he defined his literary drive. Since then, he regularly published books.

He was also part of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and the Ordre des Arts es des Lettres in France. During the late 90's he started to become a very well known spoken word artist as well. His lifestyle, nomadic and very close to the underground, has been inspiration for many artistes and for a wide spread of his legend.

Some of his must important and well known books are novels: The Naked Lunch, The Nova Express, Junkie, The Exterminator, White Subway, etc. He was very interested in the music scene and always had a will to participate at music recordings. His colaborations included artistes such as The Doors, REM, U2, Ministry, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Gus Van Sant,among others.
