After a huge success in '89 with "Batman" (financially as well as making one of my favorite films of all time), Tim Burton went all out with this flamboyant sequel that is daring and wildly entertaining. Too bad Burton was not welcome back after its dark and mature themes did not go over well with tight ass parents and angry fast food corporations (who promoted the film to children with impressively designed Happy Meal toys) - resulting in the series taking a more family friendly turn, which ultimately (and unfortunately) led to this franchise's demise. Although it does not take itself as seriously as Burton's first "Batman", it's certainly not as pretentious as future "Batman" efforts. The leads (especially Pffeifer) are fantastic and are clearly having a fantastic time with the material. I have a great time watching it - something I might not have been able to say when I saw it in the theatres in 1992 and cried when Selina Kyle gets attacked by cats after being hurled out a 10 sto...

Classic.

One of my favorite movies ... a MASTERPIECE that everyone should see.
