I've been alive since I was born. Sure, there have been some times where it may have been more or less evident than others, but I'm pretty sure I can confidently make that statement--although I'm taking it on faith from my parents concerning the first few years. I love being alive, but I'm not afraid to die. It's that somewhat contradictory perspective that gives me the drive to make life as worthwhile as it can be. I'm a thorough believer in the idea that the most eternal truths transcend any given generation, and that we as individuals get a snapshot of those truths in this short window that we have. Our great privilege is not just to observe those truths, but to express them in our lives and through our actions. These expressions are often most evident through life achievements, artistic expressions, and the long conversations we have with the people we trust the most. The deepest parts of a human being are expressed through the most minute actions, and the most minute actions have profound effects on the deepest parts of a human. If I had one life goal, it would be to find a way to express through the minute actions of music the truths that have touched the deepest parts of my humanity.
