Kaylee is always positive and can fix just about anything. And she's a cutie, even when covered in grease and gunk. She sometimes over-shares personal information but she does so in a way that she would describe any other piece of equipment that needs attention. Her character is probably the only pacifist in the Firefly series.

Kaylee, the positive, happy center of the ragtag Serenity crew. A master mechanic, keeping the old ship afloat as it ventures it's way through the Verse. Kaylee is able to patch her up with nothing more than a few wires, some well past their prime parts, and raw determination. And just as she keeps the ship flying, her infectious smile and up beat attitude keep the crew of the Serenity going, even when they are so close to giving up, she is a spark that gets them through the inevitable bad times, as well as the to few good ones. Kaylee, as played by the amazingly talented Jewel Staite, is the shiny that keeps the darkness at bay, even for a little while, aboard the Serenity.
