I just got another unsolicited call from my internet provider trying to sell me services I had no interest in, they've been cold-calling me all week. I've got a stack of unopened junk mail on my kitchen counter full of similar useless attempts to score more cash outta my pocket by various public companies.

And yet, just this week multiple members of Anonymous were arrested for unsolicited TCP/IP requests sent to various servers, causing politically motivated disruptions that actually have a point.

How come the corporations can barrage me with unsolicited communications in the name of business, but a civillian interest group gets arrested for conducting unsolicited communications in the name of civil disobedience?

Something is seriously wrong with this picture, and the lawmaker's lack of perspective on communication technologies are clearly causing unfortunate consequences for citizens of the globe.

Either exonerate the said hackers or hold the corporations equally respo...

I feel I need to comment on this recent headline about Anonymous. "Anonymous wants transparency, but hides behind a name."
Anonymous holds no public office.
Anonymous is not an elected official. In this respect Anonymous has no reason to be held to standards that our country & public officials should be held to. Anonymous is an idea. If you feel your government is making a mockery of the constitution (which was put into place to protect our freedoms), then you are Anonymous. I might add that a war was fought securing these freedoms & rights afforded to all of us. People fought and died for those freedoms. For our government to have blatant disregard for those who fought & died securing our Constitution is wrong on every level. No where in the Constitution does it say you can pick and choose which laws and amendments you abide by. This is why we need transparency in government.

When will the governments of the world realize the internet is our public forum? they try to take it away or censor us people are going to fight hard.
