Alan Mark Grayson (born March 13, 1958 in Bronx, New York) is the Democratic Congressman in Florida's 8th congressional district. The district includes just over half of Orlando, as well as Celebration, Walt Disney World and part of Ocala. He defeated four-term incumbent Republican Ric Keller in the 2008 congressional election.
Grayson graduated from Harvard College, then received a law degree (with honors) from Harvard Law School as well as a Master of Public Policy from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Grayson is an alumnus of the Bronx High School of Science.
Grayson went on to work as a judge's assistant at the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, working with current U.S. Supreme Court judges such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia, and former U.S. Attorney General Robert Bork. He helped found the Alliance for Aging Research, and is the current secretary of its board of directors.
