Idk why my comment never showed. Curious to know how you became to be buddhist? I would love to share stories and meet new ppl.

Kip I studied many different beliefs years ago and when I started reading about Buddhism I felt as though I had already been following many of the basic teachings already. I didn't start actively practicing by attending a temple until last year. I love that Buddhism is more training than a religion. -
Krissy Kallinen Me too I never realy felt comfortable in a church setting. I had bad experience. A number of times and it scared me. I have seen ppl use religion for personal and financial gain and finally I had an eye opening look at the ugliness organized religion. I believe in God I believe Jesus died on the cross I just can not live my life as a book /Bible or set myself up for failure and disappointment when I'm not perfect. There good religious ppl and there are not so good ones and I don't want to try to figure it out. I have my own relationship with God and myself I chose to live my life as how Jesus would want me to and that is without prejudice. I don't believe gay ppl go to hell or ppl who commit suicide its not what ppl do in life its who they are as a person God knows your heart and that's all that matters. I am a mix of Christian and Buddhism. I heard its called star wars and Bahia either or good mix. Live in love try to be the best me I can be not what the Bible or organized religion...

Become. @rich_kooyer AAaaah, so even you are not immune! Seems like a job for Dr. Sun: Please focus on your nostrils and allow the breath to flow in and out naturally without controlling, focus on the breath only and do not analyze. In. Out. In. and Out. Gradually become aware of the body, there is only sensation. There is no good or bad. In and out. Please practice this for at least 20 minutes each day until you feel less stressed out. Call me again if you need further assistence. -
Rich Kooyer I do more than 20 minutes a day already. To admit you are immune to anything means you are probably one of the most vulnerable.

Rich Kooyer I know what I do from reading elsewhere too. Japanese Buddhists do not like SGI at all but in Chaolaincy, I support and affirm all.

Rich Kooyer The Buddhist Churches of America make the call but the military requires an letter of ordination. I dont think my local SGI would give that. Color me surprised if they would. Soto.zen, theravada, pure land, and shambala are just a few that I know off the tio of my head that the BCA recognizes.
