I cannot say I totally agree with Ms. Shulman as regards Goldman's "feminism" nor with her supposed lack of empathy toward middle class, "happily married" women... I'd love for feminists to quit attacking other women or finding other's supposed weaknesses to peck at! For that matter, ANYONE. Really, what IS wrong with applauding strengths? Always have to be the stereotypical nit-picking mother, we do :^P

Re-reading "Love & War" from A Dangerous Woman: The Graphic Biography of Emma Goldman by Sharon Rudahl~ "What is gained if the narrowness of the home is exchanged for the narrowness of the office or factory?" (speaking *against* women's suffrage... Many believe Emma was an archetype of the feminist movement but don't realize that she opposed the 19th amendment! But don't get yer knickers in a twist- she was against any centralized government & its laws ;) lol)

Finishing A Dangerous Woman. "Love & War" is my favorite... I my re- read it a few times before returning it.

Read "Red Emma," "Firebrand," "From Miss Smith To Mother Earth," & "King Of the Hobos." Forcing myself to stop before I read what little remains...

Read "Terrible Child" from A Dangerous Woman. Emma had a rather difficult upbringing. My family were Jews from Belarus & immigrated to the United States around the same time as her sisters.
