A great President. Coincidentally, I am a descendant of the first V.P. to serve under FDR, John Nance Garner, also known as "Cactus Jack."

Oh there you are, FDR. I was just telling everyone what a badass you truly were... I hope more people realize this very soon. youtu.be/-R898wegx6Y

Stacey I saw your post on Twitter, Dan, and came here to do a check in and lend my support. FDR was a badass dude, is big on the maternal side of my family, as my mom's great (or great-great, or is it 3, I always forget) uncle was John Nance Garner, the first V.P. to serve under FDR after serving as Speaker of the House, and the man who infamously said what is now said to be the most famous statement made about the position of V.P.; that it's "not worth a bucket of warm piss." Oh, how proud my mom's family is of that legacy. Sigh. -
Stacey Apparently it's also generally agreed that if FDR hadn't decided to rub for a third term, that John Nance Garner would have handily won the Democratic nomination and the Presidency that term. History is interesting. Even just the bare bones facts about him on Wikipedia interest me. But FDR's history is especially compelling and fascinating. I have both parts of the American Experience about him on my iPhone, despite the space it eats up, and when I'm waiting somewhere or traveling and can't sleep, it's a perfect thing to watch. That and audio books of The Ricky Gervais Show are two things I won't delete after viewing/hearing. (Nerd alert!) -
Dan Pawlak @staceyau Cool replies there, thanks for that! He's always been an intriguing figure to me as well.
