Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to denote not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are closely related to, yet distinct from, the concept of freedom of thought.
In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech". The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference.
Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression". Furthermore freedom of speech is recognized in European, inter-American and African regional human rights law. Freedom of speech, or the freedom of expression, is recognized in international and regional human rights law.
The right is enshrined in Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, Article 13 of the American Convention on Human Rights and Article 9 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.

No matter what, isn't there a freedom of speach in America. I mean, come on now, didn't the rep. wilson (lower case on purpose) prove it when he called the President a liar during a joint congress speach live on television. What happened to him? Williams apolgized, not saying what he said was correct, but at least he recognized it. Even if he doesnt totally agree. He felt he could get away with it, along the lines of "lair", "monkey", "tar baby". #hankwilliamjr

HOW IN THE HELL do people get arrested for peacefully protesting? For standing on a sidewalk? In Brazil and in Buenos Aires peaceful marches/protests were a normal thing. Here, police lose their minds and don't know what to do and end up creating chaos and harm. How is this ok? People should be able to peacefully report & share media or express themselves EVERY DAY if they so desire, without backlash from those who "protect and serve".
