My grandma has lived in central Illinois her entire 89 years on earth and speaks with the local accent and uses phrases she grew up with. One of my favorites is when she says "Well I'll declare!" to express wonder or surprise. She is also very fond of the word "yonder" in place of "there". Grandma is quite a character.

Both of my Grandfathers have been gone for years, both of my Grandmothers are in "homes". I'm only able to visit my Grandmother on my Mom's side. About 9 years ago she had a stroke, she cannot walk... more

Both of my Grandfathers have been gone for years, both of my Grandmothers are in "homes". I'm only able to visit my Grandmother on my Mom's side. About 9 years ago she had a stroke, she cannot walk or talk. She was the ONLY person I was worried about visiting yeterday (we visit once a week, regardless) I helped her unwrap 2 1/2 presents (YES, 2 1/2) She hadn't completly gotten to the third one when she insisted we open her closet. She had a gift bag inside, she made me open. Inside was a BEAUTIFUL afghan. It amazes me that she still thinks of others when we're so concerned about her. Even before the stroke she'd give you the shirt off her back. I'd give ANYTHING to hear her tell me a story again, even if she could just write it, pen on paper. Why do bad things hapen to good people?

Looking forward to my weekly visit to my Grandma's house. She's 93, but nobody would know it. She is amazing. I'm so happy my kids get to spend so much time with her. I don't know what I'm going to... more

Looking forward to my weekly visit to my Grandma's house. She's 93, but nobody would know it. She is amazing. I'm so happy my kids get to spend so much time with her. I don't know what I'm going to do when her time is finally up. It's bound to happen eventually, but the sadness will still be there, even if the loss is anticipated. I'm just thankful to have had her live so long already. My grandpa, her husband, died when I was still a toddler, so I can't even remember him. It's a shame that there is no record of his voice. I've always wondered what it sounded like. At least we have some pictures. There is even one that has both of us in it, which I treasure. Apparently he adored me, and his final years were extremely happy even though he was often unwell.

My grandfather passed away just a couple hours ago...even though you often see these things coming, it never makes it any easier.

Thinking about my grandma. Miss her.

gonna visit them soon, stay there for the weekend.

Should call my grandmother. Haven't talked to her in weeks. Gotta be a good grandson. 87 years old and still with it, love her.

My grandmother just passed away. I'm sad but she was 93 and has been battling cancer for 15yrs. Rest in Peace Grandma we love you and you will be missed!

Got a call from my daughter last evening. Baby on the way !!

Spent the past 2 days with my grandparents who are 88 & 89! My children have had the awesome privilege of growing up with 3 great-grandparents! It is so amazing and we are truly blessed!
