Stacey @discohh I can't wait to see them. Last night when the CNN real-time alert popped up on my phone saying that the last troops had crossed the border, we were in a restaurant with about 16 friends and I let everyone know and everyone immediately started cheering and we had a toast. Other patrons asked what we were celebrating and when we told them, it was amazing. Word spread from table to table and each table cheered and toasted as they got the message. It's one of the coolest things I've ever seen and it changed the entire atmosphere of the restaurant. It's hard to explain; I'm just happy I was there to see how affected people were by the news. It really does matter to people.

Stacey @discohh I agree without even knowing your friend. I honestly believe that's why the average is so touched and does care so much, we not only want the men and women home, but having them home with their families for Christmas is heartwarming to the averaging Joe like me and my friends. Yes, it sounds corny, but I think it's hard for us every year knowing that troops are away from their families. I know troops have only left Iraq at this point, but it felt important to celebrate that, even a bunch of strangers celebrating and having a toast in a restaurant in Chicago. Everything we do feels so insignificant, but we don't forget the sacrifices and we do appreciate them, even if it's hard to find ways to show it directly.

So, the Shrubya War (Parts 1 & 2) is officially over now. Not that the effects of war will just fade away, but it's something.
