Jon Lajoie (IPA: [laʒwa]), born Jonathan Lajoie of a french-canadian father and an english-canadian mother, is a Canadian comedian, actor, and internet celebrity from Montreal, Quebec, Canada Born and raised in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Lajoie graduated from Dawson College's theatre program in 2001. Since 2002, he has acted as an anglophone musician named Thomas Edison in Radio-Canada's francophone soap opera L'auberge du chien noir. Lajoie first became popular through the video Everyday Normal Guy, in which he, in ironic contrast to typical rap songs, sings about his bland, run-of-the-mill daily activities and his peaceful nature.
Lajoie's other videos soon became a hit, such as 2 Girls One Cup song, Show Me Your Genitals, Sunday Afternoon, and High as F%#k. On two occasions, Lajoie responded to the popularity of his videos by making sequels. He followed up Everyday Normal Guy with Everyday Normal Guy 2 and Everyday Normal Crew, and did the same for Show Me Your Genitals with Show Me Your Genitals 2: E=MC Vagina and I Kill People.
In Everyday Normal Crew, Lajoie not only raps about his boring life but his friends' as well. At the end of the song he says that he agrees that "the joke's getting old". At the time of this writing, his videos have received millions of hits on the Internet, especially those on YouTube.
Show Me Your Genitals currently has the highest YouTube viewing of all his videos, over 15 million views. Lajoie's songs are often parodies of everyday things, such as stay at home dads, pathetic attempts at having sexual intercourse with girls, and doing chores on Sunday afternoons. Until recently, Lajoie's "Show Me Your Genitals" character possessed no name or alias, until his most recent video "I Kill People", where he refers to himself as 'MC Vagina', early on in the video.
