here's an artist giving the dig. download of her album w/ BONUS tracks for $1, yet people are WILLING to pay $25+ for the CD b/c they want the art & they WANT to SUPPORT the ARTIST! AFP shows us that illegal downloading is not responsible for poor music sales! if people make good music/art, they may be able to support themselves b/c of it! amanda palmer has the right idea: make the music cheap/ free, if it is good, people will respond to it- once you have their attention/admiration/interest/respect/love, you can sell your time and ideas to them. it's smart to make GOOD music easily accessible. bring in money w/ merch, art objects, touring, and other creative ideas and personal commitments. that is how you become a "working artist" instead of a "starving artist" or dancing monkey for a label that only cares about $. Although her kickstarter project is funded many times over, i believe that the money given to support this artist is not wasted, but invested! CHEERS TO THE FUTURE OF MUSIC!
