Goin thru Haley's comet trail and wouldn't figure it's during a full moon and then moon is at its shortest distance from earth of year or something so also because of that the moon is appearing larger then usual. Then on top of all that we have beautiful clear skies and no rain until two in the morning when storms have raided us complete with golf ball size hail and when they r over the clouds remain. Grrrr

I have to be at work at 6am so no late night meteor shower viewing for me. :( The moon will probably be too bright to see anything really good though.

Sky watchers (like me) are in for a rare treat this weekend. The annual Lyrid meteor shower peaks & the best observing gonna be between midnight & dawn Saturday night/Sunday morning. PLUS: Saturn is just a week from opposition (i.e., directly opposite the sun with Earth in between) 'n Saturn’s rings are at an optimal angle for viewing - even with a small telescope. Saturn doesn’t reach opposition again until 2017.

I am POSITIVE,along with my neighbors, that we just saw a meteor shooting across the Miami sky. VERY POSITIVE IN FACT!!! It was no plane,there was no chemtrail behind it. Very bright!!1

Just a reminder The Lyrid meteor shower is April 20 and 21, with a peak of a dozen or so meteors per hour.

No way would I have been able to stay up late enough to watch last night, but it really would have been cool to see the meteor shower. I just saw a really good shot someone took of it, looked awesome.
