My fave animal has changed over the years. Naturally, I'll collect whatever it is. Then end up gifting an enormous collection to some 'penguin' lover, for example. I have been really moved by monkey all of my life though. And yeah, I do keep a few, non-living ones around me.

Howler monkeys. Since I decided where a setting is, I have to change the gorillas into howler monkeys. They're pretty cool.
