I've done NaNoWriMo for several yrs now. Never gotten to 50k, but never giving up, either! Wild ride, fun online companionship as we prod, goad and cajole each other to get to that 50k! Already... more

Already plotting my new NaNo project. The characters are screaming in my head to put words on paper, but I can't. I know better. GAH!! This sucks! LMAO

Vikki Hamme That's actually my problem. I have three other novels in my head for a total of four and that's a LOT of characters! One of which has 50+ in it regularly. I've been working on that since NaNo last year. The storyline needs closure. I'm trying to finish the first one. I might do it in August. June probably won't be feasible. -
Kimberly Hartman Do what works for you. The only downside to NaNo I have ever seen is when it replaces 'I can't write a novel' with 'I can't write a novel except in November'. It stops the muse either way. A writer forcing themselves to not write when they need to risks crippling his ability to follow inspiration. At least get notes down when the words sing to you. -
Vikki Hamme Oh I do. I've got all these scenes trying to form in my head and when they start I'll start write out a summary for them as they come. I'm always writing. Writing one of my passions. If it's not a novel, it's a short story, or fan fiction- which in the nearly two years I've finished 5 full length and I'm wrapping up the 6th- or poetry. I try not to limit myself to just November. I;m just using NaNo as a way to focus on ONE SPECIFIC project rather than letting my chaotic mind take off in whatever direction it wants.

FanIt's amazing that I could write over 51,000 words in the 30 days of November, but have only added another 10,000 in the five weeks + since then.
