In March, the NOH8 Campaign was able to travel to seven cities and meet over 1,400 NOH8 supporters and volunteers as we toured a stretch of cities in the Midwest for the first time including Tulsa, St. Louis, Lexington, Indianapolis, and Columbus. We were so proud to see how far the message of NOH8 has spread and how many communities have embraced "no hate" and utilized our message to promote dialogue among their friends and family. Team NOH8 is excited continue that momentum into April with a collaboration we've been developing with Rutgers University.

On Wednesday, April 4th the NOH8 Campaign will host an open photo shoot at Rutgers University in NEW BRUNSWICK, New Jersey - an event the college has encouraged students to participate in by subsidizing the cost of their photos (the first 175 Rutgers students will receive a solo photo for a discounted rate of $5).

Wednesday evening, NOH8 Co-Founders Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley will join a special Marriage Equality Panel at Rutger...

I'm so tired of the fact that we (the U.S.) act like we're such a melting pot of people and yet, we still have roadblocks like this issue. You'd think we'd want to be an example of tolerance and acceptence since we try to preach that to other countries. *shakes head* There's no feeling like love and we've all grown up knowing that marriage is that ultimate expression. We certainly don't deny weddings to people because of their religion so why in the HELL would we ban something because of the way somebody is BORN? For those that try to say marriage should be for just Christians can kiss my ass. There were marriages long before Christ was even born so don't tell me it's degrading Christian morals when Christianity didn't invent the concept of marriage. You don't like it? Too bad. I don't see how a Christian can be allowed to follow THEIR beliefs and customs but not other people. ???? Still trying to figure out why it has to be so complicated. After being approved by the Washington State Senate last week, the state's House of Representatives has passed the bill legalizing same-sex marriage in Washington with a majority vote of 55 to 43! The bill now goes to Governor Christine Gregoire, who will have five days to sign the bill into law - just in time for Valentine's Day!

Governor Gregoire, in her final year of office, set the stage for swift passage of the bill in January when she announced her support for legalizing same-sex marriage in Washington. Although the bill would not take effect until June, this might be the perfect time for those Washington couples waiting to tie the knot to get engaged!

This incredible news comes on the heels of yesterday's 9th Circuit Court decision to uphold Judge Vaughn Walker's ruling that declared Proposition 8 unconstitutional, and today serves as another massive push forward for equal rights. Of course, anti-gay activists are have already begun taking steps to battle the decision - in...

Part III: In the meantime, one of the most important notions to gain from today's victory is that there is promise, there is hope, and that with enough perseverance and patience, we can achieve the equal rights we deserve. We need to focus on figuring out what each of us can do from here to help the movement in our own way. Everybody has their own way of speaking out, and we have to celebrate those differences and encourage people to bring their own personal talents to the table. We want full recognition of equal rights for everybody on a federal level, and all of us are going to have to work together to do it!

So many people and organizations, particularly AFER, have played such a pivotal role in this historic decision. The NOH8 Campaign was born out of the passage of Prop 8, and we're proud to be a part of the fight. Even still, we couldn't do what we do without such incredible dedication and help from each of you in the community. If not for your support, NOH8 would have never m...

Part II: What does this mean in the now? When can same-sex couples in California begin to get married again? The imposed stay on permitting same-sex marriages will likely stand in anticipation of further appeals; but we will update this page as more information becomes available.

For now, we must celebrate this huge advance for gay rights and continue this year's momentum of the positive forces for change we've seen in places like Washington state, Delaware, Hawaii, and of course New York. This is an incredible day for couples not only in California but across the United States, and we will continue to share the details of what this decision means as we learn more.

In addition to ruling on the constitutionality of Proposition 8, there were two more issues for the 9th Circuit to rule on. First, they were to decide whether or not Prop 8 Supporters have the standing under federal law to appeal Judge Walker's decision: they have ruled they do, mirroring the California Supreme Court's ...

Part I: Nearly one and a half years since Federal District Court Judge Vaughn Walker declared Proposition 8 to be unconstitutional in the landmark Perry v. Brown case, the 9th US District Circuit Court of Appeals finally announced this morning that they will be upholding Judge Walker's decision: PROPOSITION H8 IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

Opponents of same-sex marriage will likely file an appeal to the decision, and the next steps may inevitably lead to a hearing before the US Supreme Court; casting the national spotlight on California's fight for the freedom to marry and putting the focus on same-sex marriage at a federal level. Most importantly, today's rulings open up the door for the same arguments to be used to the benefit of advancing pro-same-sex marriage legislation in other states.

The FAIR Education Act would make sure that stories like Harvey Milk's are taught to youth in schools - some of whom might really need to hear a story like Harvey's. The idea of this measure is the very type of thing Harvey Milk fought for.

Earlier this year, during the NOH8 Campaign's trip to San Francisco, we made it a priority to visit Harvey Milk's former camera store in the Castro; now converted into an HRC Action Center and Store with a work space for The Trevor Project's crisis and suicide prevention call center.
