Purple Squirrel Story Continued: even if it's obviously inedible. It is possible he has been chewing on a purple ink cartridge and then groomed that coloring into his fur."

But the squirrel's uniform color would seem to rule out the paint theory. Krish Pillai, a professor at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, commented on Accuweather.com that the squirrel's color should not be taken lightly:

This is not good at all. That color looks very much like Tyrian purple. It is a natural organobromide compound seen in molluscs and rarely found in land animals. The squirrel has too much bromide in its system possibly from all the bromide laced frack water it's been drinking. I would raise the alarm. This could mean bladder cancer for humans down the road.

A purple squirrel was found in Jersey Shore, Pa., on Sunday, by Percy and Connie Emert.

"We have bird feeders out in our yard, and the squirrels are constantly into them," said Jersey Shore resident Connie Emert. "My husband traps them and then sets them free elsewhere so they don't get into your bird feeders."

Emert said she had spotted a purple squirrel on her property but no one believed her.

"I kept telling my husband I saw a purple one out in the yard. 'Oh sure you did' he kept telling me," said Emert. "Well, he checked the trap around noon on Sunday and sure enough, there it was." According to Connie Emert, her husband released the purple squirrel back into the wild Tuesday night. As for why the squirrel was purple, Buzzfeed pointed out that a purple squirrel found in England in 2008 spurred debate among vets and nature experts.

"I have never seen anything like it before," wildlife expert Chris Packham told the Telegraph at the time. "Squirrels will chew anything...

If active nights are your speed, try ice-skating under the Pittsburgh sky at PPG Place Downtown. Open 7 nights/week from November-March, $7 (plus $3 if you need skates) will allow you to skate all night if you’d like. This is an awesome place to skate especially when it's snowing! Pittsburgh is also a city rich in artistic culture and taking a trip to the Warhol Museum on the North Side will only enforce that fact. The largest museum in the country dedicated to a single artist, the Warhol has a variable stockpile of originals by the Pittsburgh native as well as several rotating exhibits. While daily admission is $15, if you decide to go on a Friday night, admission is half price at $7.50.

The wonderful & talented Katherine Heigl stars in the Pittsburgh-filmed "One For The Money". The movie will hit theaters on January 27th. Katherine plays an unemployed newly divorced women who gets a job at her cousin's bail bond business. This movie looks funny, but will probably wait to see it. Well over 200 films have been shot in Pittsburgh and surrounding locations. I always say Hollywood LOVES my city of Pittsburgh.

The driver was thought to be going too fast for road conditions. Please be careful driving my Pittsburgh friends and slow down please!

Seven in 10 TVs in the Pittsburgh region were tuned to Steelers-Chiefs on Nov. 2, which made it the nation’s top market that night, as it was as well on Nov. 6 for Steelers-Ravens. A preseason game back in August against the Philadelphia Eagles, which aired on a Thursday night on FOX, was one of the highest-rated preseason games in recent history.

There are two truths about Pittsburgh. It is a town that loves its football, and it’s a town that really loves its Steelers.

According to data released on Jan. 4 by Nielsen Media Research,
Pittsburgh was the nation’s No. 3 television market for Sunday Night Football on NBC for its entire 2011 regular season.

Pittsburgh had a 20.0 household rating and 30 share across all 16 regular season games carried by NBC, which means an average of 30 percent of all TVs turned on in the Pittsburgh market were watching Sunday Night Football during the season. And the numbers were considerably higher than that for the three nights when the Steelers were one of the participating teams.
