Posterous is a simple microblogging platform started in May, 2009 funded by Y Combinator. It boasts integrated and automatic posting to other social media tools such as Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as a built-in Google Analytics package. Updating to Posterous is like other blogging platforms.

Posting can be done by logging in to the website's rich text editor, but it is particularly designed for mobile blogging. Mobile methods include sending an email, with attachments of photos, MP3s, documents, and video (both links and files). Posterous also has its own URL shortening service that will shorten a custom URL to post.ly/______. Posterous allows you to point the DNS listing for a domain name or subdomain you already own to your Posterous account.

This makes it easy to have a site hosted by Posterous that uses your own domain name.
