Today St. Patrick's Day (Mar 17) is considered by most a secular holiday celebrated with Irish music, dancing, tales & beer. Some Christians honor St Patrick as the man who brought Christianity to Ireland.
Driving the snakes out of Ireland is a poetic way of saying he drove out the Pagans since during Patrick’s lifetime Ireland had no snakes. The snakes represented the Druids, the priestly caste of the Celtic people. But further investigation suggests Patrick was a man who cared deeply for the Irish & spoke out against their slaughter at the hands of their enemies, the Picts & Scots & that another man Palladius was the Pagans' arch enemy.
Some Pagans choose to honor the Druid Celts on Mar 17 by reliving the long-lost traditions of the Bards. Telling stories, playing music & wearing early Celtic costumes to honor pre-Christian Ireland.
I just realized: If #TheWorldEnds 12/21/12 I will never get to have another #ShamrockShake! The ones this year were great! I admit it. I love these new "upscale-ish" #McDonalds drinks.
I'm impressed Edmonton, I'm on call during St Patricks day and I only got two calls last night, neither where vandal related. Thank You Edmonton for Partying responsibly ✌
