Sam Axe is a fictional character in the television series Burn Notice, played by Bruce Campbell. He is the best friend of Michael Westen, the main character in Burn Notice. A former Navy SEAL, he later became, like his friend Michael Westen, an independent contractor performing covert operations for the government.

The show does not clarify how much time he spent in any of these roles, although he mentions work as far back as 1984. He now lives in Miami, Florida, mostly working on low-priority cases. He helps Michael with freelance work.

He frequently uses the cover name "Chuck Finley", which coincidentally is the name of a coworker of Bruce Campbell's father. Though he was once one of the world's top intelligence operatives, Sam is now semi-retired, whose habit of dating "sugar mommas" forms the subplot of several episodes. For first and second season, he had no living quarters of his own, living with his "ladyfriends".

He eventually get a place of his own in season two, when his "ladyfriend" at the time broke up with him for being married when he was younger. That marriage was done on a whim, but never dissolved.
