The USC Trojans are the athletic teams representing the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. While the men's teams are nicknamed the Trojans, the women's athletic teams are referred to as either the Trojans or Women of Troy (the university officially approves both terms). The program participates in the Pacific-10 Conference and has won 114 total team national championships, 92 of which are NCAA National Championships.
USC's cross-town rival is UCLA, with whom there is fierce athletic and scholastic competition. However, USC's rivalry with Notre Dame predates the UCLA rivalry by three years. The Notre Dame rivalry stems mainly from the annual football game played between these two universities and is considered the greatest intersectional rivalry in college football.

Junior Seau is the reason that the USC #55 is a special jersey which is only handed out to someone whom the present USC coach deems worthy of wearing the number. I hope USC does not retire the #55 because what a better way to honor a player's legacy than to have a living tradition linked to that player. When a USC player (and I'm sure it's the same at every university) wins the Heisman, that jersey is retired immediately.
It is not "heat of the moment" talk but a true objective assessment to conclude that Junior Seau is on every list of Top 5 USC Trojans football players to play since 1980. I can move certain players in and out of that list, and just because a player won the Heisman doesn't automatically make him the greatest ever because the Heisman is biased toward offensive players, and even though he didn't play 4 years, he's still on that All Trojans list.

He´s back!!!! USC quarterback Matt Barkley will return to school for his senior season in 2012. Barkley notified head coach Lane Kiffin of his decision by presenting him with a Christmas ornament that read “One More Year” – and for many USC fans, the good news about Barkley’s return is a welcome early Christmas gift. 2012 will signal the return of Troy and erases any doubt about the future of USC’s football program. #FightOn

The #9 USC Trojans (10-2, 7-2 Pac-12) finished strong and obliterated the so-called South division champs, the UCLA Bruins (6-6, 5-4 Pac-12), 50-0. It has been one of the best seasons in USC history even though the NCAA took away the opportunity to compete in championship games. The Trojans showed the NCAA that you can unfairly sanction the players who had nothing to do with one player’s violations over six years ago, but they showed the rest of college football that you cannot keep the Trojans down no matter how much they are handicapped. The Pac-12 “championship” game has become a joke with UCLA playing at Oregon. USC has beaten the South and North division “champs” the past two weeks and is playing as well as any team in the nation. The Trojans will end the season a Top 10 team and could start next season as a Top Five team if QB Matt Barkley and his fellow juniors return for a run at a national championship.
