Just listening to a hypocritical "vegetarian" at work saying she doesn't like to eat meat because of the way the animals are treated and killed....yet chicken is still on the menu for her :-/

Trish DeBroeck That has always bugged me. I've known a couple people who did that. I was vegetarian until I started eating bacon on occasion again. After that, even though I ate in only a couple times a month, I stopped calling myself one. -
Kel See, I like people like you Trish lol. You keep it real.

Working my way back to being a vegetarian, something I've done on & off for years. I feel so much better when I don't eat meat.

I respect anyone who loves animals enough to sacrifice their own health and well being to save the life of a farm animal. But there are vegetarians and presumably vegans complaining because Starbucks... more

Nate And yes vegetarianism is healthy but your body does need animal proteins. Beans don't make up for that. An ideal diet would be vegetarian plus meat. Fish is very important too, it's loaded with omegra3 fatty acids. Yeah you can get that from flaxseed oil or hemp oil but that's an artificial addition to your diet and it's expensive. -
Julie Stoops @natemylott Not true at all. Most people actually get too much protein anyway, which over taxes the kidneys, and plant based proteins are just as good as animal based without all the saturated fats and other nastiness. If you choose to eat carcasses, that's your thing, but don't delude yourself into thinking it's in any way healthy or necessary, because that is not in the least bit true. Do some real, unbiased research and get the whole story and all the facts, don't just rely on what you want to believe or what you have been told by similarly uninformed people. And there are many forms of vegetarianism - no extremism or bug hugging is required. :) -
Regina ^This. I personally am not too bothered by the whole bug thing. I certainly won't be boycotting Starbucks over it. But I felt the need to address the patent falsehoods in your statements. You seem intent of bending the facts to match the opinions you already hold instead of basing your opinions on facts, and I find that problematic. I am also troubled by the assertion that anyone who values ALL life rather than drawing an arbitrary line to exclude "stupid" animals is in need of professional help. What about people with actual mental illnesses? Depression and Bi-Polar disorder? You can't find something more important to send people to therapy for than an appreciation for life that isn't dictated by size or intelligence?
