Dead at the age of 84, Vidal Sassoon revolutionized the way women wore their hair by popularizing the modern symetrical bob. This innovation became an unlikely symbol of women's liberation, as the new carefree hairstyle allowed women to spend less time on their hair and more time elsewhere. His popularity as a stylist lead to a hugely successful line of haircare products. He briefly hosted his own style and beauty talk show in 1980. During the 80s, he partnered with Proctor & Gamble, turning over the day-to-day of his beauty product line, a decision he later contested by way of a lawsuit claiming breach of contract. He felt thru had neglected marketing of his line in favor of other brand holdings.

He was truly a pioneer. I remember using his shampoo/conditioner when I was a kid! He will be missed.
