              Watching the live coverage on C-SPAN at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the National Mall. Memorial Day Observance. The President & Vice President and their wives are there. 50 years later ... here we are. 2 1/2 hour ceremony. Taps always makes me cry. An important day in so many ways. High time too our country honored our Vietnam Veterans in a big, big way.

              Somebody sprayed something on the replica in Albany Georgia desecrating it. Some people have no sense of decency. I have a some family members who were in Vietnam, but thankfully have none who were killed there but it makes me sick when idiots do something like that to something that means so much to people.

              First and only I have stood in front of this memorial was in 2000 on a class trip. My cousin's name is on this so it was a very personal experience for me. It was very emotional getting a sketch of his name and walking and see all the names. I would like to return someday and take my husband to be and children to this.

                Vanessa - *Support NOH8* @tammy_charwood He's fine now, much older & calmer, & is another woman's problem! I also have a much younger brother who was in Iraq right after the war started & didn't get out of there until 2005. He suffered greatly from PTSD as well. We were all so grateful he came home alive. I agree with what you said too, about it helping you grow, that's very true. I had to learn from a very rough childhood to be resilient & learn to have peace in my life. Thanks for the convo.               If you have not already visited this memorial...you should take some time to do so. I'm not a fna of war nor want to incite any political discussions, but the wall impacted me so much. I cried when I saw all the names. We etched off my Dad's best friend's name, Eddie Lee Hatley! We brought it back to my Dad, and he cried like a baby. Very emotional experience.
