Nick Fallin is a hotshot lawyer working at his father's ultrasuccessful Pittsburgh law firm. Unfortunately, the high life has gotten the best of Nick. Arrested for drug use, he's sentenced to do 1,500 hours of community service, somehow to be squeezed into his 24/7 cutthroat world of mergers, acquisitions and board meetings. Reluctantly, he's now The Guardian - a part-time child advocate at Legal Aid Services, where one case after another is an eye-opening instance of kids caught up in difficult circumstances.

I've never seen this before. I was flipping through the channels and found S01E02 playing and thought I'd give it a try. I really like Simon Baker, so I have high hopes.

This show is about Pittsburgh, lawyers, redemption, learning to love. The lawyer, who goes on to play the lead in the Mentalist, plays a 32 yr old lawyer son of a prestigious Pittsburgh lawyer, who is caught doing drugs. With the help of his father, he pleads down to doing community service with the children's legal services department. He represents children who need a lawyer because of abuse, adoption, emancipation, etc The most recent episode was, in my opinion, the most touching, as he represents a 12 yr old girl dying of congenial heart failure. She won't be given a heart because she has no home. Nick, the lead lawyer, decides to apply to be her foster parent. I just wish we saw the character evolve through the course of the series. Perhaps he will.

Never heard of this show. What is it about? I'm guessing this was before The Mentalist.

Getting in deep. Kind of funny now that I watch this show so many years AFTER it aired and I see at least 2 actors now in other shows. One of the female partners becomes the HEAD ATTY/OWNER in "Suits" and the replacement of the LSP lawyer that was shot (for beating a kid in the face with a tire iron) is one of the detectives in "The Closer".

Nick has the shortest conversations and has taken eye-communication to a whole different level.
