040 - 'The Man Who Never Reached Home'

Jeff C. The Ghostbusters prove to be immortal as of this episode. Egon, Winston, and Venkman blast nuclear energy beams directly at Ray, when suddenly the three of them are all simultaneously struck by lightning. Somehow everyone survives. Ray is thrown from a full-speed horse-drawn carriage onto his back, landing on his proton pack (which we know from past episodes can go into meltdown at the drop of a hat). He gets up and shrugs it off like a doughy frickin' Superman.

Jeff C. Once again, reckless use of ghostbusting equipment: Venkman cuts loose a full particle stream in the middle of old-growth forest, devastating a number of trees. He's not concerned he might start a fire? At all? Egon's pack has a self-destruct mode that goes off at the drop of a hat. His PORTABLE NUCLEAR REACTOR goes into meltdown and explodes...in the middle of an old-growth forest.

Jeff C. And AGAIN: Winston busts some guys out of jail by blasting open the cage. Somehow he avoids murdering the men, even though he is literally shooting beams of nuclear energy directly at them. The Ghostbusters as a team use their weapons to destroy a civic dam, flooding out a dry area with no consideration of the consequences. I LOVE THIS SHOW.

S2E3 - 'Ragnarok and Roll'. Oh man, that title is a groaner. Love the spooky temple in the prologue, though.

Jeff C. More hideously reckless misuse of ghost-busting equipment: when his PKE meter is going to overload, Egon tosses it out a second-story window and into a city street without so much of a casual glance, where it explodes into a massive fireball! There could be dozens of innocent people out there! Traffic! Children playing!
