Well watched it in the cinema yesterday before a Skype Q&A with Rod. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the DVD with lots of extras coming out. (He's hoping end of summer/autumn this year)

Gene Roddenberry's outlook on humanity is the only thing that gives me hope for our future. I hope he is right.

Thanks, @roddenberry. It's good to see that your father's legacy is in good, caring hands. LLAP

Gene's son tells his side. With a bit of Dr. Phil in it, since he didn't have a blessed childhood relationship with daddy. Great show

I hope this is what I just watched. Who is Rod? Throughout the whole documentary I watched, he said his name was Eugene. Anyway, when this was over, I got chills. The art of Star Trek really did create real life (for example the smartphone I'm writing this on). Even the "flip phone" was modeled after TOS. Tablets used on TNG (et al) will be more commonplace within the next five years. Forget Bill & Steve, where would we be now without Gene's vision of the future? Where will we go with it, in the future?

He faced something that I also experienced. You think your Dad will be here forever. My Dad was just gone, same with my Mom. We appreciate too late what we had.

What's with GetGlue listing "Trek Nation" as "Rod Roddenberry's"? Gene Roddenberry's son who presents this show introduces himself as Eugene Roddenberry!

Gene Roddenberry, in 1986, talking about how cool it would be to see Kirk getting the Enterprise & meeting everyone is eerily cool.

Trek Nation is a fascinating examination of the dismal relationship b/t a father & a son, set against the backdrop of the vast Star Trek franchise story.

This doc about Gene Roddenberry was made after his death by his son who we discover barely knew anything about his father or his great Star Trek legacy. This film reveals Roddenberry as a brilliant, amazing, influential, forward thinking, widely experienced yet personally closed off, sad & disappointing, horribly failed & wildly successful, philosophical & ultimately flawed person. His work brought so many people & ideas together, yet he lived his whole life with a great chasm b/t him & his son.

His son documented his struggle to know & understand the father he barely knew, the reasons behind their lack of relationship, and the depth, breadth, & nature of the legacy he left behind. After several years making this film, he finally came to appreciate & love Star Trek, not only as other fans do, but as a connection to his father he ...
