About to finish season 2. The episode "Outrage in Balinderry" is so 70's television though. It's clearly supposed to be about Northern Ireland, the IRA and the British control of that country. The people of Balinderry have clear Irish accents, their independence movement are called the IBA and are considered terrorists, and the controlling government sport British accents and UK army uniforms. However, as was often the case back then, most US dramas could never get too political lest they appear to side with a cause. Who could blame them? The spectre of Joe McCarthy and the blacklisting of people in Hollywood was still in their minds.

Why a Don King type would be trying to steal government defense secrets though doesn't make a whole lot of sense. LOL

I've been watching the Six Million Dollar episode where Jaime is introduced. I hated Jaime so much back when I was a teen. (LOL) I'm so glad to be able to watch these old episodes with a new perspective now that I'm older. I'm having such a good time introducing my younger friend to the world of Bionic man/woman! And of course, getting to see hunky Steve Austin (Lee Majors) is such a plus!

On the sixth episode of season 2 and the writing of the show continues to be top-notch. I know the show was often just considered action-adventure and did get corny in later seasons, but this episode in particular handles sci-fi very intelligently while still conveying great humanity and compassion at the same time.

Steve's honesty about Americans' resistance to women in roles of power is really played and written well. It doesn't come off as either preachy or forced, but as a genuine assessment of America's cultural tone at the time. The writers do a brilliant job of showing the viewer why a woman can be a political leader rather than ham-handedly telling them.

Episode 4 has some implausible parts but it does have some great elements. The character of Prime Minister Pal-Mir is clearly a fictional version of Golda Meir.

The second episode is also solid. Again, the production may be a bit dated, but scientists are still pursuing cryogenics as a means to allow for deep-space flight, and the idea of using some kind of chemical process to prevent cellular damage is actually spot-on.
